» CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character NAME: Sakura "The Ogre" Ogami.
Canon & MEDIUM: Dangan Ronpa, PSP game.
Canon PULL-POINT: Directly before her death.
Character AGE: 17, though she believes herself to be 15.
Character ABILITIES: Almost superhuman strength. She is basically the strongest of all possible high school girls. She is also well-versed in mixed martial arts. She's an excellent wrestler, though faster on her feet. She has a 400-win streak and may be the strongest person in her world. She is definitely the strongest high school girl in her world.
Character HISTORY: Sakura has dedicated her life to the pursuit of strength and power. She has been fighting since the day she was born, and is more powerful than everyone she has ever fought, save one man. Kenichiro, her boyfriend, was the one person she could never defeat. Unfortunately, just before her entry into high school, he was laid low by an unspecified disease and she was unable to ever defeat him.

Upon her entrance to Hope's Peak academy, she was introduced to the other students in her class, including Naegi, Kirigiri, and Junko. She became especially close to Aoi Asahina, who shared her love for sports and activities. The two of them were best friends.

However, during their time at the school, an unsettling event occurred. The school's entire student council was murdered by one person, setting off a riot that was referred to as the Worst, Most Despair-Inducing Incident in the History of Hope's Peak Academy. The riots and protests continued until they spread all over the entire world. At a certain point, they gave way from what we would understand as rioting and became all out factionless war. The entire world was essentially taken over by anarchy propagated by a group known as Super High School Level Despair. It had turned into the Worst, Most Despair-Inducing Incident in the history of the world.

When this happened, the remaining students at Hope's Peak were given a choice. They could either continue to live in the world, which at that point had been functionally destroyed and was incredibly dangerous... Or they could choose to lock themselves away in the school, only leaving when things had died down in order to use their powerful talents for some good when it was all over. Her entire class agreed. But there was one problem. The leaders of Super High School Despair, twin sisters Junko Enoshima and Mukuro Ikusaba, were among them. Before the plan could be put into action, Junko and Mukuro murdered Principal Kirigiri, Kyouko Kirigiri's father, and took over the school themselves. They wiped their classmates' memories of the last two years and released them into the school, unaware of the relationships they had had with the other students.

Junko enacted her plan. With Mukuro disguising herself as Junko, she took on the identity of Monobear and forced her former friends to kill each other for a chance to get out of the school and back into a world they no longer knew was filled with destruction and death.

Sakura, though shaken by the killing game and feared by most of the other classmates for her strength, quickly reformed her friendship with Asahina. The two of them were inseparable, and Sakura made protecting her friend something she focused intently on. However, she held a terrible secret. Monobear had gotten to her, telling her that if she did not follow his orders, her family's historical dojo was at stake. He told her that if murders did not start soon, he would ask her to murder one of the other students in order to set it off.

Luckily or unluckily, that intervention was never needed. However, when only seven students remained, Monobear pushed his hand. Having gotten to know and trust and care for her friends, she refused and battled Monobear. In response, he revealed her identity as the mole. The mistrust and fear that the other students harbored because of her size and strength was multiplied. In the end, her hand was forced, she had to kill someone. She did the only thing she could do, her last act of defiance to the mastermind that held her in his thrall... She broke into the headmaster's office, a crime which would end in her death anyway.

After that, she asked for the other students to come speak to her, so that she could explain to them her rationale for doing what she had done. However, in the end, their fear overcame them and they tried to kill her before she could hurt them. She was too strong to be defeated by them, especially not in their fear, but she didn't allow herself to be angry at them either. Bloodied, but not in any danger of death, Aoi came to her, and she asked her to get her some protein powder from the supplies. Aoi realized that Sakura had gotten poison from the same supplies, and realized her plan, but it was too late.

The letter she left was filled with her love for her friends and the hope that her sacrifice would be the last death in the school. It also revealed that she suspected their memories had been tampered with, though the other students were never able to do it. That letter was replaced by the mastermind with one that spoke more of despair than hope, leading a tearful Asahina to attempt to have the rest of the students die... to pay for her death. By this time, Sakura was dead and unable to refute it. Her pull point is from directly before she poisons herself to death. She never knew the identity of the mastermind.

Character PERSONALITY: Sakura is quiet, polite, and generally slow to anger. She enjoys weight training, sparring, and formalized matches, and spends a lot of her time involved in physical pursuits. She also enjoys quiet time, she spends time drinking tea and relaxing in meditation when she is able to. Rest days are as important to her as workout days. She uses her free time to keep up on both fashion magazines and workout magazines. (The fact that she reads fashion magazines is evinced by her being the only one who recognized that Mukuro-as-Junko looked different from the photos of Junko she has seen in them.) She also enjoys watching fights on television, because she understands that even strength that is no match for her has attributes that she can learn from. She is intelligent, but more importantly than that, she spends a long time thinking things over. Her quiet contemplation can lead her to land on the right answer, but especially in situations regarding herself, it can also reinforce the problematic ways of thinking she already has.

At the start of the story, she has difficulty seeing value past strength, somewhat in others but moreso in herself. She has a very strong idea of what masculinity and femininity mean. She feels both ashamed of her femininity but also somewhat possessive and defiant about holding onto it. She believes that her destiny is to be the strongest human being on the planet, and that to do that, she must throw away all of her weakness and femininity. Throughout her acquaintance with Naegi, Aoi, and the other students, she comes to realize that she doesn't need to stop being a woman to be stronger than all the men in the world, and that there are many different kinds of strength.

More than anyone in the group, (before anyone in the group) she realizes that the rest of the students are her valuable friends, whether she realizes that they were friends in her lost memories or not. She does realize that her memories have been altered, and she attempts to let the other students know via her suicide note, though that part is censored by the mastermind. She has a strength of will that is beyond any of the other students, though solidified by her relationships with them.

She values her friends, though does not put up with any creepiness or harassment when it comes to herself or others. She appears in the photos of her student life, to not get along with Yamada, or at least to be stern with him. She is aware of what kind of damage her strength can do, so she doesn't use it unless she absolutely must do. But she knows that she has a responsibility to use her strength to the benefit of the people she cares about. Though she is noble and strong, she is modest and not prideful. To her, her strength is a skill that she has honed rather than anything that she is somehow entitled to. She does not see her own nobility.
